Kettle One Brings back the man

2009 June 14

Vodka. It’s not a drink to be taken lightly, and Kettle One is going through a new advertising campaign that is far different from the sex-driven, dumb-male beer commercials, or the Jack Daniels commercials that focus on the distilling process. I am not a drinker by any means. After I left the Marines and got married, my drinking days are behind me. Now I mainly cook with wine, whiskey, or tequila.

Back to the point – the marketing. I find that Kettle One Vodka has a great ad campaign right now. It focuses on the successful man; an uncompromising man; a gentleman with class. The ads done in black and white with strong masculine imagery and the persuasive voice-over was enough to make me interested enough to try the product.

Yes, this TV campaign won me over with it’s stand out from the crowd tactic. Congratulations.

Amazingly, it must be a different team from the print ads that have been created because those are absolutely horrid in my humble opinion. The other pieceĀ  missing is the website. Where is the website for the new branding? It just says under construction! I thought that went out with the ’90s. Clearly there is mis-communication within the marketing department. Hopefully, when the site IS up and running, Kettle One will have a good site that is optimized and has analytics for tracking visitors.

I couldn’t agree more. I love these commercials. You stated “…a new advertising campaign that is far different from the sex-driven, dumb-male beer commercials…” but I believe it is far more than that, especially in the American culture. Men are usually demonized, made to look like like idiots, and so on. Maybe I am just an old fashioned guy, which everyone seems to hate these days. Maybe it is because like you I am a military veteran. Either way you rarely if ever see “strong masculine imagery” or men portrayed as gentlemen. No thanks to radical man hating feminism that has been so pervasive in our culture.
